Coexistence is Resistance: San Francisco Bay Area Responds to Hate
Dear Invest in Peace Community,
This weekend, the San Francisco Bay Area is coming together to express solidarity and love in the face of rallies with anti-Semitic and racist tones. The Bay-Area community has responded with a number of events, including interfaith dinners and discussions at two of our local synagogues on Friday night. Just as we are inspired daily by the work of our featured organizations building peace on the ground in Israel and Palestine, we look to them now for guidance, as conflict and fear finds its way to our local community.
We are inspired by the heroic efforts of the Parents Circle Families Forum to embrace forgiveness and preach coexistence, and by the groundbreaking efforts of EcoPeace to build bridges between divided societies in order to collectively advocate for better environmental practices.
At Invest in Peace, we oppose white supremacy, anti-semitism, and hate, and embrace pluralism and coexistence. Whatever your response to the events unfolding locally this weekend, we hope you will embrace coexistence too. We’ve created signs that help spread that exact message:
Would you like a free sign? You could put it in your window or carry it at an event. We’ll be handing them out at three events this Friday:
The Unite Against Hate Rally led by the San Francisco Human Rights Commission
An Interfaith Gathering Against Hate
CSI Stands Against Hate, Dinner and Discussion with the ADL and AJC.
Come pick up a few signs for yourself and to share with friends. If you would like to help distribute these signs at one of these events or to your personal network, please contact us at firstname.lastname@example.org to arrange a sign pick-up.
Remember to stay safe and look after your neighbors.
With love and solidarity,
The Invest in Peace Team
